The ORL School Tuzla Association – ENT School Tuzla, together with the Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, the Association of Tracheotomized Persons Tuzla, and the ENT Department of the Medical Faculty in Tuzla, marked World Voice Day on April 16.
The lecture was held at the University Clinical Center Tuzla. The president of the Association of Tracheotomized Persons Tuzla, Dr. Lejla Tokić, ENT specialist, spoke to the audience. She thanked all guests, especially the director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, for continuous support to oncology patients.
A welcome speech was also given by the acting head of the Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Majda Mujić, ENT specialist. She pointed out the importance of such activities, which the Clinic has been organizing successfully for many years.
The professional part of the program included:
– Dr. Alen Harčinović, ENT specialist, with the topic “When should you see a doctor for hoarseness”
– Dr. Jasmina Kabil, speech therapist, with the topic “Mirror of the soul – practical care and health of the human voice”
The topics were very interesting and useful.
A special moment of the event was the performance of the choir of laryngectomized patients, accompanied by speech therapist Dr. Mirsada Korlatović, which impressed everyone.
As part of World Voice Day, preventive check-ups were also organized at the ENT Clinic of the University Clinical Center Tuzla. These were for patients with hoarseness lasting more than four weeks, chronic smokers, people with voice fatigue or unstable voice, throat discomfort, and voice professionals.
The activities continued at Freedom Square in Tuzla, where doctors, medical staff, and association members shared advice with citizens on how to take care of their voice. Support was also given by students from the Medical Faculty and the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation in Tuzla, as well as students from medical schools in Tuzla and Lukavac.
We thank the flower shop Lejdi for donating roses and carnations, which were given to non-smoking women. We also thank all oncology associations of Tuzla Canton for their support in organizing these events.
