The Association “ORL School Tuzla – ENT School Tuzla,” in cooperation with the Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery at the University Clinical Center Tuzla, as well as the Department of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tuzla, organized a professional workshop titled: “Nursing Procedures for Patients with a Tracheostomy.”
The workshop was held with the aim of continuous education of medical staff and improving the quality of healthcare.
The workshop was attended by head nurses and medical technicians from various clinics who, in their daily work, encounter patients with tracheostomy tubes. The focus of the event was on further education of nurses and technicians, enhancement of professional knowledge, and exchange of experiences in the care of this specific category of patients.
Professional presentations were delivered by nurse Enida Serhatlić on the topic “Tracheostomy Care,” and Amila Krašić, Master of Nursing and head nurse of the Phoniatrics Department, on the topic “Nursing Procedures for Laryngectomized Patients.” The practical part of the workshop was conducted by Velida Dedić, Bachelor of Nursing and head nurse of the Head and Neck Tumors Department.
Their presentations covered modern approaches to care, practical guidelines, and challenges in everyday work with patients, generating significant interest and professional discussion among participants.
The event was further honored by the presence of Acting Head Dr. Majda Mujić, PhD, specialist in otorhinolaryngology and president of the Association “ORL School Tuzla – ENT School Tuzla,” and Prof. Dr. Fuad Brkić, PhD, primarius, specialist in otorhinolaryngology, subspecialist in audiology, and full professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tuzla, in the subject of Otorhinolaryngology.
In their addresses, they highlighted the high quality of the presented work, as well as the dedication and significant role of nurses and medical technicians in the healthcare system and in the daily care of tracheotomized patients. They particularly praised the continuous commitment to professional development, emphasizing that such educational activities contribute to raising healthcare standards.
The head nurse of the Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery at the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Amela Suljendić, MSc in Nursing, emphasized that the main goal of the education is to improve practical knowledge and skills in working with patients with tracheostomy, as well as to empower medical staff for a higher-quality and safer approach in everyday practice.
She also stressed the broader importance of continuous education, especially mutual cooperation and exchange of experiences between different clinics and nurses, noting that such an interdisciplinary approach enables the adoption of new knowledge and improvement of healthcare services, ultimately leading to better patient care.
